The Big Internal Cleanse

If you want to feel a little lighter, healthier, cleaner and generally livelier this summer, then the Internal Cleansing Kit by Blue Herbs could be just the ticket. We put it to the test.

MSN Colon Kit Drink   I do love a good cleanse – and not just the bath and exfoliating kind. I’m talking about the internal kind, where you can either eat fruit and veg for a few weeks (something I find nigh on impossible to keep up after a few hours) or have a little herbal assistance.

I first contacted Blue Herbs to try their Colon Cleansing Kit in January early this year, when I was in full-on detox mode. It’s a tough detox if you do it to the highest level, which I was determined to, but the end result was well worth it.

Blue Herbs recommend that you try their Colon Cleansing Kit before embarking on their Internal Cleansing Kit, because it’s important to remove old, accumulated internal waste before you move onto cleansing other parts of your body. If intestinal waste isn’t cleansed first, you see, it will continue to release toxins into your body, while you are trying to cleanse other areas.

The Blessed Herbs Internal Cleansing Kit is a twenty-one day comprehensive whole body cleanse that contains over 90 herbs. Using ingredients that are 100 per cent organic and wild-harvested, these herbs are formulated to help in releasing, absorbing, and eliminating stored toxins. The kit also cleanses unwanted guests and adds probiotics. For anyone who (like me) has done their stint of travelling – this could prove useful.

Your diet does not need to be changed during the cleanse. However, eliminating some products such as meat and dairy - or improving the diet generally - can deepen the cleanse. And, “Once cleansed, the energy previously used for toxin storage is now available for your body's deep rejuvenation” say the people behind Blue Herbs.

The Kit

The first thing I noticed about the Internal Cleansing Kit was that I just loved the design of the system, from the beautifully packaged box containing it’s various herbal capsules and tinctures, to the clear and concise instructions that take you through the cleanse
With the little brown bottles all arranged in a row for daily consumption, the kit makes you feel like you’ve got access to an old-fashioned, traditional herbal pharmacy while you’re using it.

The booklets which take you through the course day by day explain which dosages to take and detail exactly what is in each of the herbs. For example, ginger root or peppermint leaf are used to stimulate digestion - and grapefruit seed extract to support the immune system.

The kit contains seven formulas dedicated to the body's natural organs of elimination, focusing on the colon and digestive system, the liver and the gall bladder, para cleansing (that’s getting rid of little unwanted parasites, to you and me), the kidney and bladder and the lymph, blood and skin cells.

You can even decide the strength of your cleanse – and while my diet is roughly 80 per cent vegetarian, I still had some dairy with the occasional piece of cheese, which I found too hard to give up. (And, whisper it, while this isn’t best recommended, a steak one weekend.)

Why Cleanse?

Ultimately, if we cleanse we feel better. Our bodies can easily become overloaded with toxins in today’s world and the herbs in the Internal Cleansing Kit help to release, absorb and eliminate those stored toxins.

How it makes you feel

Despite not switching to the highest level for this cleanse (that being a vegan diet), I still felt like I was doing something really good for my body on the course – and I was actually disappointed when I finished the last of the capsules. You do find yourself going to the bathroom more regularly as your body flushes out toxins and wastes, thanks to the digestive stimulator and kidney and bladder rejuvenator. But overall I just felt more healthy, light and good about myself for doing it.

It’s possible to experience ‘cleansing reactions’ while using the kit and I think I did during week two. I suddenly found myself feeling extremely tired one weekend lunchtime and needed to have a quick power nap during the afternoon. But according to the literature, this happens when your body is eliminating toxins, so I took that to be a good sign.

Many people have reported losing weight from this three-week programme – and I myself lost about six pounds while doing it. While it is not designed specifically for weight loss, one of the benefits of a cleansed body and healthy colon is that you release excess toxins and cellular wastes.

I’d really recommend this cleanse for people who might find something as extreme as the Colon Cleanse, or eating a completely vegan diet for a few weeks, a bit difficult. It’s very easy to follow, makes you feel good and I hope to be making it an annual fixture.
